The host city of Eurovision-2017 was announced
Kiev, Odessa and Dnipro competed for the right to hold international tender
The song competition Eurovision-2017 will take place in Kiev, at the international exhibition center on the Left coast. The head of National TV Zurab Alasania has reported at the briefing today.
Kiev has experience of the organization and holding this competition – the anniversary 50th tender Eurovision took place in 2005 in capital Sports palace. The right to carry out this kind of event was acquired after the singer Ruslana winning in Turkey in 2004 with the song of “Wild Dances”.
Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko has already congratulated Kievans on a victory. “We congratulate and wish Kievans to hold this event at the highest level!” – he wrote at Facebook.
Eurovision tender usually takes place in the middle of May; fixed dates are announced for several months prior to the competition.
After the victory of the Ukrainian singer Jamala on the Eurovision-2016 with the song “1944” devoted to Crimean Tatar people deportation, there was announced a tender among cities of Ukraine for right to hold Eurovision-2017. Applications were submitted by Lviv, Kiev, Odessa, Dnipro, Kharkiv and Kherson.
On July 22 the final of tender was reached by Kiev, Odessa and Dnipro.
The announcement of host city of the Eurovision-2017 was postponed several timed: at first it was planned to determine a winner till August 1, then by the Independence Day, the briefing announced for August 25 was also cancelled.
The head of National TV Company Zurab Alasania (the TV Company in engage in the organization of tender) explained a delay in determination of the city owner with problems in organization. According to him, the working group of organizing committee took a timeout – on refining and joint completion of line items with the cities.
The Cabinet of Ministers allocated to the State committee of television and broadcasting 450 million UAH from a reserve fund for holding the Eurovision-2017.
